Community Coordination Enlists the support of other community organizations and individuals on issues affecting the interests of communities of color. Plans the annual Juneteenth barbeque and the Soul Food Dinner for OSU students of color; supports outreach and member connections via Wakanda Warriors and Keeping it 100 series. Communications Maintains the branch website; publicizes branch's meetings and events to social media and traditional media, sends monthly E:newsletter and Events Blast to mailing list of about 2000. Experience with Weebly, Facebook, Instagram, MailChimp, Google suite platform helpful, or willingness to be trained. Seeking someone with Database Mgmt experience. Meetings as needed. Cynthia Spencer, Chair. Education Seeks to eliminate discriminatory practices in public education at regional school districts. Studies local educational conditions affecting people of color. Keeps informed and strives to correct abuses where found. Liases with the OSU chapter of the NAACP. Jodi Yoder, Heather Charmichael Co-Chairs. Environmental and Climate Justice Sara Lovtang, Christy Brekken, Co-Chairs Health & Wellness Diedre Green, Chair Housing Committee Amy Mastraccio, Chair Finance Studies the financial needs of the branch. Prepares financial reports. Treasurer, Sherrie Day; Assistant, Chelle Williams. Freedom Fund Celebration Plans all aspects of the annual fundraising event: sponsorship, event elements such as the Keynote Speaker and entertainment, coordinates volunteers. Legal Redress Investigates cases of potential racial discrimination reported to the branch. Supervises litigation in which the branch is interested. Partners with the Political Action Committee on projects of mutual concern. Erin Duncan, Chair. Membership Works to maintain and increase the membership of the branch and integrate new members into the work of the branch. Experience with Excel, Facebook, or MailChimp is helpful, or willingness to be trained. Political Action Works for the enactment of municipal, state and federal legislation and policies designed to improve the educational, political and economic status of communities of color.
